What SSACI Cuts
Mean for Hoosier
Students and Families
with the Greatest Need
Over the past two years,
Hoosier students with
the most financial need
had their grants from
the
State Student
Assistance Commission of
Indiana decreased
by more than 35
percent. At the same
time, funding for such
aid increased in
the state budget;
however, the number of
students applying and
qualifying for financial
help also increased.
The result: a net loss
for individual students
of more than one-third.
The chart below shows
the share of tuition
covered by the maximum
SSACI grant at Indiana's
"big three" declined by
more than half over the
past decade.
